A Public Meeting has been arranged for Wednesday 4 March 2026 starting at 7pm at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Benhall. The Meeting will provide residents with updates on the following aspects of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) in our vicinity, specifically:
1. Lion Link Interconnector - Statutory Consultation To aide residents to understand National Grid Ventures (NGV) proposals for a subsea electricity cable (known as an interconnector) between the UK and the Netherlands and its various proposed elements.in this area. To answer any queries, if possible, ahead of the consultation deadline of 10 March https://www.nationalgrid.com/national-grid-ventures/lionlink/about
2. Sea Link To update residents on a new and recent proposal by Suffolk County Council for an alternative route which avoids use of the Benhall Railway Bridge.
3. Cumulative human impact To discuss the adverse impact of so much infrastructure imposition on the local community’s physical and mental health.
There will also be the opportunity for residents to ask questions, make statements, and raise issues for consideration etc. at the Meeting. Those wishing to speak are kindly asked to raise their hand and wait to be called upon to speak to allow the Meeting to proceed undisrupted. It may not be possible to provide an immediate response at the Meeting, but, if that is the case, Councillors will do their best to provide a response as quickly as possible outside of the meeting.
Please note: We have been reminded that all attendees should not consume alcohol during the meeting. We thank you for helping us to comply with the law by not bringing alcoholic drinks into the meeting room.
